Sandbags...
  • It is a specific offence under s. 18.1(2) of the Environmental and Management Protection Act to add any sand to any river or lake without a permit. Penalties include fines and imprisonment. However tempting it may be to dump the contents of sandbags in the lake it is imprudent to do so. The sand is not sterile and may contain an aggregate of various construction materials. It can irretrievably alter the aquaculture.
  • Sandbags can be placed on pallets at the road side, as long as they are situated to allow a forklift easy access for pick-up. Pallets are available at the "sandbagging" location.
  • Properties with less than 30 sandbags can stack the bags at the road side, so as not to impede traffic and they will be collected and compiled onto a pallet.
